With the development trend of large-scale tank design and construction, it is of great practical significance to ensure the safe operation of tanks and prevent lightning fire accidents. For large floating roof storage tank, special attention shall be paid to prevent lightning fire of sealing device. Combined with several typical tank fire accidents, the reasons of seal device failure in tank design, construction and operation and maintenance are analyzed. The present situation and existing problems of domestic storage tank lightning protection technology are expounded from the aspects of second sealing device, electrical connection of facilities, lightning protection and grounding detection. The design concept and application of new oil&gas free sealing device, active nitrogen protection system and lightning warning system for storage tanks are introduced. From the aspects of design, construction, sealing device form, tank lightning fire fighting and tank safety management mode, the measures and suggestions to enhance the ability of tank to prevent lightning fire risk are put forward.

Due to the poor control effect of traditional methods in the application of remote automatic control of natural gas pipeline valves, the internal leakage of natural gas pipeline valves still occurs. Therefore, a remote automatic control method of natural gas pipeline valves based on PID algorithm is proposed. The acoustic wave sensor is used to obtain the acoustic emission signal of the natural gas pipeline valve, and its amplification, translation and other transformation processing are carried out. The wavelet packet decomposition method is used to analyze the acoustic emission signal of the pipeline valve, extract the internal leakage characteristics of the pipeline valve, identify the natural gas pipeline valve with abnormal internal leakage, calculate the state error of the natural gas pipeline valve with PID algorithm, and control the opening and closing of the natural gas pipeline valve with abnormal internal leakage according to the set PID rules. It is proved by experiments that the maximum internal leakage of natural gas pipeline valve by using the design method is only 0.32l, which shows that the remote automatic control effect of natural gas pipeline valve by using this method is good and has a good application prospect.

Based on the FMEDA analysis, a definition method of proof test coverage is proposed in this paper, and measures that can improve proof test coverage is also proposed. Then, based on single-card-triple system, Markov model is modelled to prove that the impact of the increase in proof test coverage on the PFDavg of SIS. The results show that the definition method of the proof test coverage is reasonable and effective. The measures proposed based on this definition method can effectively improve theproof test coverage. The simulation results show that increasing the proof test coverage and reasonably increasing the proof test frequency can greatly reduced the PFDavg of SIS during its using time.

SIL assessment of safety instrumented function loop is the design base of the safety instrumented system, SIL assessment methods were clearly defined in IEC 61511 Part 3. The safety layer matrix, modified risk graph and layer of protection analysis (LOPA) are the most often using methods, the comparison research for these methods were done and the advantages of LOPA were summarized. Based on the SIL assessment of typical safety function loop on one offshore oil production platform, the calculation and assessment procedure of LOPA was described in this article, and it provided reference for SIL assessment using LOPA for other offshore safety instrumented system.
