    Online mass spectrometry can monitor the industrial process on line according to principles of determing the nature and quantity with advantages of high automation degree, wide measuring range, fast analysis speed and analyzing multiple sets of data synchronously. Main features and components of online mass spectrometer analysis system are summerized. Functions and principles of the ion source and mass analyzer are introduced in detail. Mass spectrum quantitative analysis method is mainly disscussed. Development and application of mass spectrometer in industrial process monitoring are introduced with summary of attentions in use and maintenance.

    Application in automation area has been making progress with each passing day along with the rapid development of network communication & information technology. A new era of fieldbus instrument has been turned on in tobacco industry and building material industry. In chemical and petrochemical area, although conventional transmitter with 4-20mA plus HART protocol prevails widely, but the advanced fieldbus configuration and concept, such as PROFIBUS-PA, Foundation Fieldbus, has been introduced in domestic plants by international chemical company, BASF, Celanese. The writer is fortunate to adopt PROFIBUS-PA currently, and find out and summarize some experience in PROFIBUS-PA application, which is shared below.

    Wellhead control panel is one of the most important wellhead control device at the oil and gas production process on the offshore oil platform. The opening and closing of all of surface-controlled sub-surface safety valve and surface safety valve are controlled by wellhead control panel which plays an important role for safety production of the whole offshore oil platform. Firstly, the working principle and internal composition of wellhead control panel are introduced in the paper. Then the detail design methods and formulas of wellhead control panel are introduced in the paper. The paper not only provides engineering guidance for designing wellhead control panel, but also provides guideline of operation and maintenance for operators.

    Along with the development requirement of chemical and refinery industry as well as the safety improvement requested by Government, the passive pressure relief system cannot be satisfied the safety requirement. Compared with western country, active safety such as high integrity pressure protection system (HIPPS) had been used in part of the chemical and refinery projects. What is difference on using HIPPS? It depends on standards and codes, no relative in domestic whereas recommended in western country. This paper described the concept, selection principle, implement, and detail specification of HIPPS, which will be the reference on adopting the HIPPS.

    Comparing with the conventional distillation sequence, dividing wall column can effectively save energy and equipment investment. But, the internal structure of dividing wall column is complex and it is susceptible to interference, so it is difficult for the modeling and control. This article studied the internal structure of DWC, and then built a mathematical model. The liquid split and side stream which are characteristic of the DWC were selected as manipulated variable, and the four temperature control structure was designed to control the temperature. PI controller was designed to control each control loop. The reliability of the designed control structure and the controller were verified by a lot of simulation experiments. The designed control structure and the controller can effectively solve the problem that DWC is hard to control, thus the best separation effect can be obtained.

    The paper introduces ModbusTCP/IP protocol and the communication between Supcon U6-200 PLC、MCGS touch screen TPC1062K and ForcecontrolV7.0 is achieved using ModbusTCP/IP. The configuration of both hardware and software is described. Taking a set of minitype electrical heating reaction system as an example, the procedures to design a friendly HMI with TPC1062K which is easy to operate locally and to design a SCADA system with ForcecontrolV7.0 on the supervisory computer are introduced.

This paper describes the principle of blowing-type thermocouple and infrared thermometer , and make a contrast between two kinds of instruments comprehensively and systematically. For sulfur recovery unit burner specific conditions and requirements of the temperature measurement, infrared thermometer because of its high accuracy, fast corresponding signal width can be replaced online features, better able to meet the sulfur recovery process furnace requirements and the requirements of high temperature combustion characteristics.     HP steam drum as the key equipment of EO reactor cooling system, the control scheme is very important to EO reactor cooling system. It is a three-element control system. In the more common two element control, the steam being generated is on pressure control with no regard to flow. The level controller adds boiler feed water. This is acceptable for the normal steam boiler, since a rise in level usually means less steam being generated and more than enough water in the system. For the EO reactor, however, a rise in level, particularly a rapid rise, may mean a higher rate of reaction and greater steam generation. Under these circumstances, more water is required. This is accomplished by a flow meter on the steam flow and boiler feed water make-up. When the steam flow measurement measures increased steam flow, it calls directly for more feed water irrespective of the momentary level in the steam drum. Once the flows in and out have been balanced to the new conditions, the level controller makes the necessary adjustments to restore the water level in the HP steam drum to its normal position. In case of low level in the HP steam drum or high pressure of the generated HP steam will trip the system.
