    Research and Application of five Chemical Process Safety Techniques

    According to the security requirements of special chemical production processes for dangerous chemicals, the research and application of five chemical process safety techniques were carried out, including the specification of hazardous chemical Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and development of its management information system software, the calculation of DOW Chemical Exposure Index (CEI), Fire & Explosion Index (F&EI) and development of their evaluation software, chemical process dynamic early warning technology study and software development based on the artificial immune diagnosis algorithm, safety accident investigation management technology research and software development using predefined tree and fault tree analysis strategy. A chemical process safety risk management technology system was built in the paper, and we tried to control the safety risk of the special dangerous chemical production processes in the full production life cycle.

    Based on "Shenning Furnace" coal gasification unit of a project, this paper describes the function and working sequence of the "slag lock hopper system" in the coal gasification process and the hydraulic control scheme for the on-off valves on the "slag lock hopper system" pipeline. Then in this paper, basic theory of hydromechanics is applied to demonstrate the calculation process of hydraulic on-off valves switching time, the reason why the switching time of those valves didn’t meet the technical requirements during the start-up process is analyzed and finally the solutions are proposed.

    Tank fires were characterized by fierce combustion, high flame temperature and strong radiant heat. It was of great significance to improve the fire protection facilities of storage tanks and to study the fire fighting technology of storage tanks for controlling and reducing the loss of tank accidents.With the development trend of large-scale storage tanks in China, the difficulty of operation management and safety risk increased. The fixed fire fighting system of oil depot was based on the initial fire of the tank and the lightning fire of the sealing ring, which has the problems of large foam loss, jet blind area, long time to reach the liquid level, and does not have the ability to extinguish the fire in the whole area of the large storage tank.The paper introduced the new development of tank fire fighting technology at home and abroad, such as the automatic fire extinguishing gun on the top of storage tank achieved full area and no dead angle foam spray fire extinguishing, the automatic foam fire extinguishing unit with the advantages of fast starting, high fire extinguishing efficiency and no external energy and personnel, mobile large flow foam gun for successful extinguishing full level fire of 82.4m tank with maximum diameter. It was of great significance to learn from the advanced experience of foreign oil depot fire fighting technology to improve the reliability and emergency support ability of oil depot fire fighting system in China.

    As an important part of the chemical plant monitoring system, the performance index of instrumentation cable is an important factor that determines the safety and reliability of the entire control system. In review of the design principles of instrumentation cables in chemical plant, this paper utilities the common standards to summarize for the instrumentation cables, and analyzes the cable conductor, insulation, laying up, shielding, sheath, electrical characteristics, etc. Finally, the commonly used cable test standards are given, which is favorable to the selection and application of instrumentation cables in engineering design.

    The setting of emergency shut-down valves is of great significance for the maintenance of chemical oil tank area security, through the HAZOP analysis and LOPA analysis, the setting requirements of the safe instrument system are clarified. According to the regulations issued by the State Administration of Quality and Technical Supervision and related design specifications, and combined with previous engineering experience, the type selection design principle of the emergency cut-down valve is discussed, especially for its fireproof design. Finally taking the actual application of the emergency cut-off valve used in a benzene tank modification design as an example, the type selection design and safety interlocking scheme of the emergency shut-down valve in the chemical oil tank area are discussed, when it provides reference for the engineering design of emergency shut-off valve in the chemical oil tank area.

    Abstract:Pipe gallery is an important part of chemical industry. Because of its complexity and diversity, it is difficult in security management. If the leakage of the public pipe gallery fails, the accident will affect the surrounding pipelines and even threaten the safety of the whole park. Therefore, risk assessment for pipe gallery is of great significance. In this paper, based on the actual situation of public pipe gallery, the risk evaluation model of public pipe gallery is established from two aspects of failure possibility and failure consequence. The damage factor and management factor are used to modify the average failure probability, and the impact area after failure is used as a consequence, and finally the size of failure probability and the scope of the failure consequences are rooted. Using the model proposed in this paper, a case study of a public gallery in Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park is carried out and risk assessment is carried out.

    Boiler drum water level has non-linearity, time-delay, large disturbance and is prone to produce false water level. On the basis of Data Driven Control(DDC) theory, the MFAC-PID cascade control scheme of drum water level is designed by adopting Model-Free Adaptive Control(MFAC). Applying the scheme to SMPT-1000 hardware-in-the-loop boiler simulation system through programming the control algorithm by CFC and SCL language in PCS7, the experimental results showed that the MFAC-PID control strategy can eliminate disturbances of steam flow and feed water flow in time, overcome the phenomenon of false water level and reach stable operation quickly, thus the boiler drum water level can be effectively controlled.

    In this paper, the microwave quality flowmeter is used to measure the cuttings quality of sand drain pipe in air drilling. The cutting quality measuring system is designed. Based on the measuring principle of microwave flowmeter, according the radar theory and Doppler effects theory, the relationship of the Doppler frequency and the moving speed of cuttings is derived theoretically which considering the physical truth of cuttings in sand drain pipe. With the simplification of sand drain pipe conditions, micro-wave echo signal is simulated. The simulation signal is fully proved a stationary signal which is the basement of the further research about the relationship of the cutting quality and the micro-wave echo signal.

    Abstract: In view of the problems existing in the use of oxygen cut-off valve in Texaco gasifier of a chemical plant, the cause of valve leakage was analyzed by using fault tree analysis method. Through studying two different types of oxygen cut-off valve, the improvement measures to solve the problems were put forward according to the actual use situation, and the oxygen cut-off valve of gasifier selection scheme is proposed.
