    In GB50493, Four configuring schemes of indication and alarm device are provided for combustible gas and toxic gas detection and alarm system. Later Gb50116 and some other standards were published, and they gave their own rules for relevant problems. So it is necessary to study the variation in these standards, and in a petrochemical engineering, how to make a choice among these four schemes according to the characteristics of the project. In this paper, the requirements of these standards are listed on the four schemes, the principle for selection of design schemes is provided, and in the end, it is recommended that I/O cards and controllers shall be separate, the indicators and alarms can be used separately or commonly with other control system.

    Modern oil refining process is a typical continuous production process, and instrument automatic detection and control is the guarantee for process operating continuously, smoothly and safely, and the reliable power supply of instrument is the precondition for the implementation of detection and control. Refinery instrument power supply design should follow < Design code for instrument power supply in petrochemical Industry>. But, the code terms mainly stress on principle and generality, and there will be many solutions under the same principle, so there is a problem to choose the "true", give up the "false" and select an optimal solution. In addition, the instrument power loads are various, and have different purposes, so design specification can't meet all the requirements. In practical work, different designers have different understanding and practice, and there are many arguments. In practical engineering projects, there are indeed many mistakes and insufficiency on instrument power solutions, and many accidents have occurred. The author developed a series of instrument power supply solutions through learning the design specification, consulting with colleagues, discussing with electrical professional and the design practice, which is proved reliable and reasonable. As instrument power supply is various, this article only review and summarize the industry generally concerned or controversial issues, mainly including power supply solution of CCR, power supply solution of FAR, power supply design considerations, etc., for the colleague’s reference and discussion, and experts please criticize and correct.
