A safety monitoring system based on Wireless Sensor Network is proposed to meet the detect problem of flammable and toxic gases in large chemical industry. The system constructed cluster by process. Each process set a cluster head (CH) and multiple cluster members (CMs) which sampled gas concentration by A/D interface or MODBUS protocol from transmitter. CH received data from its CMs, and then sent to the sink node (SN) located in central control room. SN uploaded these gas data to the DCS with TCP/IP network protocol, so as to be shown and analysis by operator. In addition, CH also provided emergence message prior and cycle fault detection function, and all CMs provided field sound and light alarm function to further improve system security.

According to the fast development of LNG energy and technology updating, the selection and application of automatic instrument in LNG project is put forward through the analysis of all kinds of instruments. The characteristics of LNG low temperature medium are introduced. The measurement instruments of temperature, pressure, level, flow and analysis are illustrated respectively. The installation and attention of pressure connecting pipe, the comparison and selection of level instrument and flowmeter are emphatically introduced. The selection of temperature instrument and analysis instrument is described briefly. Liquid level detection is commonly needed in chemical production process. Traditional methods usually demand more space in installation, have a low degree of intelligence and are difficult to build up a network. Based on the technology of machine vision, this paper proposes a set of machine vision level detection system. In hardware, the system uses an intelligent industrial camera integrated with TCP/IP protocol instead of CCD camera and image capturing card to capture images, which can reduce the space consumption. In the computer software, Otsu’s threshold algorithm and Harris corner detection will be performed on captured images after pre-processing. Then the liquid level will be achieved combined with camera calibration. Experiment results show that the proposed method has good precision and can satisfy the need of level detection in chemical process.

The application of the MACS in the programming for the chemical experimental equipment is expounded as the examples of four typical DCS programs, these programs are used in compressor control, interlock resets, timer module and sequential control of the pump; the optimized ideas and methods for the design are put forward according to the practical application, each program is interpreted. All of the 4 programs are verified in the running of the experimental equipment . The experiment results show that these programs are concise and efficient; they can reach the control requirements with stability and reliability. The ideas and methods mentioned could be applied in other types of DCS designing widely.

In this article, applications of patented WaveInjector technology for flow measurements in RFCC slurry oil is presented. This WaveInjector technology has been used by Flexim GmbH in its clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters for high temperature fluids measurements to overcome difficulties in traditional flowmeter installation such as cutting into pipes and interrupting process. In flare gas system, the key point of smokeless burning and economic burning is keeping a proper flow ratio between steam and flare gas. It invokes study on flow of flare gas and smoke suppressor steam. Flare gas flow changes in a large range, so need a large turndown ratio flowmeter for steam measurement. We use dual range DP flowmeter to improve accuracy of measurement at lower range. And we use temperature and pressure compensation, Reynolds compensation and expansibility compensation, and proper installation, to increase turndown ratio to 100:1. The data from customer verified this application.

The small dynamic pressure measurement is a hard technical problem in oil drilling, the paper proposed a design of PSI pulsed gas generator, which can provide reliable support in terms of design, debug, calibration, scaling for the precise instruments. Pulsed gas whose pressure and frequency are adjustable is produced by the gas generator whose accuracy can be 0.1PSI. According to the vertical type steam heating shell and tube heat exchanger, the control valve installed in the inlet steam pipeline or outlet condensate pipeline was discussed. If the steam control valve installed in the steam pipeline, the condensate water would be discharged with a lot of steam, so the latent heat of steam could not be make full use of, and the control valve would had a large diameter, and higher the cost; If the steam control valve installed in the condensate pipeline, and add level control in the heat exchanger, the latent heat of steam could be make full use of and saving energy, besides, the diameter of outlet condensate pipeline was smaller than the inlet steam pipeline, so the cost of control valve would reduce. The maximum effect of heat exchanger can be achieved by control the emission and the emission speed of the condensate. At the same time, the feasibility of the optimization control scheme was analyzed in theory.
